Protect your investment and keep your pavers looking freshly installed. Sun, foot traffic and weather fade the color, loosen the joint sand, and leave pavers open to stains, weeds and moss. Sealing locks in the beauty and adds a real layer of long-term protection.
Pavers do not sit on a solid slab. They interlock, and what holds that interlock together is the sand between them. Once rain and pressure washing have flushed that sand out, individual pavers start to shift, edges get chipped where they knock against each other, and the surface goes uneven underfoot.
Weeds and ants are the visible symptom of the same problem — both are colonising a joint that has lost its sand. Polymeric sand sets firm when it is wetted in, and the sealer then locks the whole thing down. That is why a proper seal job stops the weeds coming back rather than just killing the ones that are there.
In Florida sun, expect roughly three to five years from a seal before it is ready for another coat — sooner on a driveway carrying daily vehicle traffic, longer on a shaded patio. The tell is water: on a sealed surface it beads, and when it starts soaking straight in instead, the sealer has worn through.
